A Simple {Christmas}

Christmas this year was simple and beautiful. So much time with family, relaxing, food, and more.

One highlight this year was Braden's extended family party - we did the spiritual thought and put together bookmarks for people to answer "My gift to Christ is..." I thought about this again and again for weeks. I want to think about what I am giving back to Christ year round, for he has given us the greatest gift of the gospel and eternal life.

We had our traditional Christmas Eve party at my mom's house, mostly to celebrate my Grandpa's 85th birthday. It's always so fun and so happy.

Then the Christmas Eve tradition of opening up some jammies!

And Christmas morning came...

^ This gift was definitely the highlight, from Avee to Braden. The cutest doll ever (definite about creepy).

And of course our Christmas Day was the very best because we got to Skype with my cute sister missionary in Guatemala! She is doing so well and we are so proud of her.

Christmastime is truly the very best - to spend time with family and reflect on all the many gifts Christ has given us.

{Baby Bauer's Blessing}

Baby Blessings are the sweetest events. We had the special opportunity to attend Baby Bauer's blessing on Sunday and his dad gave him the sweetest blessing. Loved being their to celebrate with them and share in this special, spiritual moment.

Gratitude :: A Heart of Thanksgiving

I did a terrible job taking photos this year at Thanksgiving but honestly, I think I enjoyed it more than ever. I relished in the moment with dear friends and family. We went to a little friendsgiving with our dear friends, Sarah and Becca the week before Thanksgiving and it was so fun. It really helped to bring the spirit of gratitude to the season.

This year, I think I am most grateful for love. It sounds so cheesy and cliche but love of friends and family, love shown through service, love and passion, make life so much better.

^ This turkey was amazzz. Becca did an incredible job!

Family Thanksgiving

Family thanksgiving is always special. Its fun year over year to see who has joined the family and how things have evolved. I love my special family and my heritage. These are all incredible people! Lots of people not pictured here.

Best day of the year...{lights on!}

Lights on is one of our very favorite annual family traditions. The Lights On ceremony is every year the Friday after Thanksgiving at Gallivan Plaza. We usually get there around 2:30/3 and skate for a few hours, then at around 5pm, there is always a little ice skating show of some sort (this year it was an ice skating dance company with santa, in years past it has been some handicap kids wheeling around on the ice in their wheelchairs, all so fun). Then around 5:30pm, they have a kid from the Make A Wish Foundation push the red button to turn the lights on around the city. After Gallivan Plaza, we always go over to Temple Square to see the lights. Sometimes we stop for some dinner first at City Creek. I'll warn you, it is so busy but so worth it!

This year we didn't take as many pictures because it was so cold outside! And it may have also had something to do with the fact that I was about 10 weeks pregnant at the time... :) We love ice skating!

^ This year was so cold! Look at my cute mom reading her Richard Paul Evans book (another tradition) while we are skating.

{Boltergeist} Canyon :: Southern Utah

We spent a quick weekend in Cedar City and St. George Canyoneering with some of our good friends. They took us to a canyon called Boltergeist off the freeway through Leeds. It was such a fun morning! The best part was climbing straight up the cliff when we were finished because we couldn't find the trail out. Good times! Even better, I was 7 weeks pregnant at the time and feeling so nauseous. Makes for even better memories ;) Baby has been on some crazy fun adventures in his short life already!

I cannot get enough of this cliff - so beautiful! It was a 100ft repel and I could do it over and over again. Canyoneering is the
