Hanging Lake :: Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Distance :: ~3 miles and 2-2.5 hours roundtrip
Location :: About 9 miles east of Glenwood Springs, Colorado in Glenwood Canyon off of I-70. There is an exit to Hanging Lake.

If you like to hike and live within driving distance of Hanging Lake, you should definitely take a weekend to go here. We were on our way to Denver and stopped overnight to do this hike the next morning and it was SO worth it. It was early April so it was still a little snowy and icy but it was amazing. I'm a pretty avid hiker and it was a pretty intense for this 30 week pregnant lady but I have no regrets. It was incredible! The hike to the top is through a beautiful forest. At one point, you walk along a large boulder field as you climb higher up the mountain. The lake is unbelievable - and it really does look like it's hanging onto the edge of the cliff. The view from the lake bake to Glenwood Canyon is pretty amazing too. And if you go, make sure you take a minute and hike up to the little waterfall spout above the lake - it is not much further but is equally beautiful.

^ 30 weeks pregnant. I was pretty proud of myself - for the most part I hiked at my regular pace. Nothing better than being in the great outdoors with our little family.

These next pictures are of the waterfall just above the lake. So beautiful!

^ I almost don't look pregnant in this photo

^ But of course we had to show off the cute baby bump - we love this little boy so much already! We can't wait to have him with us on our adventures to see this amazingly beautiful world on his own.

^ Lots of snow towards the top of the trail! It was melting quickly though and the weather was pretty warm.

Baby's First 5K {Salt Lake} :: 31 weeks

I had to run at least one race while I was pregnant. So I did the Salt Lake 5K at 31 weeks with my little sissy, even though she left me at the starting line. It was so fun, but so cold. I was definitely slower than my usual pace but it was a good challenge. I used KT tape on my belly and back - it made all the difference! The hardest part for me running while pregnant is baby sinks into your pelvis and you start cramping in your lower belly. I only run once or twice a week now for short distances but I have learned posture is more important than ever when pregnant. During this race, I started out at a steady pace and had to walk a couple of times because of the cramping but I just focused on listening to my body. My only goal was to finish and it felt so good to be back in the game, if only for a minute.

And just like that, baby boy already ran his first 5k! Can't wait to take this little boy on so many adventures.

If you have not run the Salt Lake half or 5k, I highly recommend it. I did the half marathon course last year and it is so beautiful - it runs through all the prettiest parts of the city!

And just for fun, I love these pictures of Avee crossing the finish line.

{Avee} Senior Photos

Our little Avee is such a special soul! She is an amazing leader, friend, and sister. She loves and accepts everyone she meets. She is focused, driven, and so positive. I cannot believe she is graduating high school so soon! Her legacy will be her incredible hugs - she gives the best bear hugs that make you feel so loved. I can still remember when she was born and her diaperless days through to her crazy pre-teens. And now look at her. Because we are 7 years apart, in some ways I am like her second mom. I feel so nostalgic thinking back on her beautiful life so far.

We did some senior photos for her and I love how they turned out. She is such a beauty inside and out. I cannot wait to see where the future takes this amazing little lady!

^ Doesn't that smile just make you feel happy? She is so genuine.

She is so artistic and creative - so much expression! So fun to watch her dance.

And she plays the flute beautifully. So talented.
